Karnataka update was the theme for the meeting held today on Zoom platform to deliberate the issues of Karnataka minorities, especially Christians.
The meeting was opened in prayer by Pastor. Praveen Ramancha, a NCC leader in Karnataka. Karnataka State Vice President Rev. B.P. Raju conducted the meeting under the Chairmanship of State President Rev. M. Jayakanthan. The mobilisation was very good. Though the leaders assured of about 20 or so joining but over 36 were there in the meeting. We appreciate the leadership of Karnataka state Rev. M. Jayakanthan for taking time and efforts to communicate and mobilize people well.
Rev. Victor Das Ambassador, National Integration Council of NCC and NCC Delhi & NCR President spoke to impress upon every leader that it is a decisive moment and that concrete planning has to be done even to the point of ensuring that all have their voter ID cards and that any needed assistance required should be given to their members.
NCC Founder President Dr. Sam Paul made an appeal that to preserve democracy, secular forces that uphold the constitutional values and ensure that all communities are taken care of well should be brought to power. The development of Karnataka is the main issue and that we as community leaders should mobilise all towards bringing the right candidates and right parties to power. Those that ensure development of all Karnataka citizens and those that are fully committed to preserve the freedom of speech and expression should be given the opportunity to rule so that Indian democracy should remain vibrant and that its foundations of expression of one’s speech or one’s faith are fully preserved to preserve democracy.
Rev. M. Jayakanthan said that Karnataka situation is very different from either Tamil Nadu or that of Andhra Pradesh. He encouraged all to stand firm for bringing to power the right persons.
Several NCC Leaders joined in this zoom meeting, including the National Secretary General Mrs. Sylvia Jaideep, National Vice President Rev. Brighty Beulah, Jarkhand State General Secretary Mr. Raju Solomon, Maharashtra State President Mrs. Alice Lobo and several others. Though the Zoom connection was not so good due to bad weather and also various other factors the meeting was an encouragement to all. Rev. Victor Das suggested that such meetings should be held for all the states of India to educate about the necessity and value of voting and to vote judiciously.
