Prayer Wing

Aims and Objectives

Prayer is the primary activity of a Christian.  The scripture says that we ought to pray without ceasing and that breathing is the only activity human beings do without ceasing.  Our prayers should be the same without stopping.  Prayers should be done with sincere faith believing that we received that we ask for in prayer.

Prayer Wing will mobilize  a number of leaders throughout the country in all the States, Districts, Talukas, Towns and Cities of India to sincerely pray for India and lead many to pray.  The  Prayer Wing leaders and members will be commissioned to pray for peace and development of our nation.  Of all the 17 Wings of NCC the Prayer Wing is the most key as it will pray to see successful results for all the other wings and for the activities of NCC.

Scripture in the Old Testament is full  of examples and exhortations to pray for  the nations.  There were statesmen that led the people in their day to sincerely pray and be blessed by God.  India has surged ahead into  top positions on several counts.  To mention a few:

  • India produces the most Engineers in the world
  • India has one of the top 5 space programs in the world
  • India has the largest English speaking population in the world

The list of successes of India can go on and on.   But the focus of this Wing is to inform, coordinate, lead constant prayers for the nation.   We noted some of the biggest achievements and we also are aware of that divide between the rich and the poor is widening in a big way.  India's richest, just 1 per cent, grossed 73 per cent of the wealth generated in 2017 while the wealth of the poorest half of Indians. some 67 crore--rose by only one per cent.  There needs to be dedicated efforts by those in authority, the political leaders in power, the officialdom and several persons to see that India progresses further.  It got to be a country that gives scope for and development to all sections of people irrespective of caste, creed, religion or economic status and so no. For this to happen, those key leaders those that are responsible to see India grow to become a developed nation the Prayer Wing leaders at the national, state and district levels will be constantly praying and raising many to be praying too.

Prayers will be offered for the Churches to be more effective in their worship, in their witness and in their dedicated service to the Indian society.  The families of the key leaders in all places will be prayed for.  Prayers should be offered that the impact of the Church in the society should be significant serving in a selfless mode.

All NCC programs will be prayed for in all the Prayer Wings at all levels led by the Wing President and other members of that Wing.  The Prayer Wing National and State leadership should see that each prayer wing will be a team of several praying people in each place and in each prayer wing.  The numbers of a prayer wing could be as big as the dream of the Prayer Wing President.

Modern technology could be put to service to quickly and clearly disseminate information concerning prayer.  Along with the Socio Economic growth and prosperity of the country prayers should be made for spiritual peace to come to one and all and that will result in true communal harmony and unity of mind and unity of purpose.

Women and Youth should be given much encouragement to lead or be part of the wing as members but be involved in informed, regular prayers and for mobilization of many hundreds, thousands and lakhs of people to pray and to enable them “to stand in the gap” to see victories through prayers.

The Prayer Wing should inform and enthuse the congregations that they belong to or called to address to commit themselves to spare considerable time to pray for the nation.  Special prayer meetings could be conducted where and when possible.   At special times like during students examinations times, elections times there should be prayer calls issued by the Prayer Wing President at the National, State or District levels. The State Prayer Wing President has to gather all the State level authorities’ information and share it with all in easy format to understand and to pray for.  The District Prayer Wing President will gather information regularly about the officers and society leaders at the District level and make regular, special prayers for them. The scripture gives clear exhortation that for one’s peace and tranquillity in life that we have to offer prayers for those in ‘authority’.  The Prayer Wing leaders should always encourage people to be sincerely committed to prayer in their personal lives and then mobilize big of number of leaders in their sphere to be committed to pray.  The Prayer Wing will always ensure special times are allocated in all the Churches for prayer for NATION and for those in authority.   They should encourage the many Churches that do have a season of prayer for the nation to continue to do so whenever they gather.

So the manifold goals of this wing:

  • Network and enrol praying leaders from all Churches and denominations
  • Help Prayer Wing leaders and members to Study Scriptures and to live in accordance to the Holy Spirit, to pray to God first and without ceasing, both individually and jointly. Encourage them to be filled with the Holy Spirit for power, praising God and constantly praying.
  • Create big teams of praying leaders at National, State, District, Taluka, Constituency,Town and / or City levels.
  • Be sensitive to the changing situations around their respective regions and keep an open eye and ear to the needs of the local churches and community at large. Towards this, encourage receiving church-wide prayer requests and mobilize intercession for all.
  • Network together and partner with the local churches and missions to facilitate prayer meetings and needs.
  • Learn as much as possible from local, regional, state, national, and international prayer events. Periodically evaluate our progress in being intercessors. As we pursue the heart of God in prayerful intercession, let us fulfil every responsibility with excellence and for His glory alone.
  • Write newsletter articles and distribute literature to encourage prayer.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate intercessory prayer and fasting for specific needs, an annual prayer retreat, revival, prayer education, training events, and holiday observations
  • Assist church ministries with their prayer leadership and areas of concern
  • Pray for the Church, Church leaders and their families, and for the Church leaders to be
  • more effective in their preaching and in their services to the society.
  • Pray for Central and the State governments especially for those in power and for those who are aspiring to come in to power and authority.  Pray for also the District and Taluka level officers with budgets and authority to perform their duties without becoming corrupt or lazy.
  • Pray for all the activities of NCC in any State or District or arranged by the Wings leaders.
  • Pray for safety and good health of the Indian armed forces that serve in difficult conditions at all seasons.
  • Specific “festivals of worship and prayer” can be planned either at local level or on alarger scale.
  • Constantly provide information to all regarding prayer needs and keep circulating the prayer requests.  So that more informed prayer can be done.
