Chalo Delhi - Prayer & Solidarity Meet for Manipur, NCC Leaders Participate
On 17 August 2023, NCC held a Special Prayer and Solidarity Meeting for the victims of violence in Manipur. The meeting was held in Delhi so that National leaders from all walks of life, various faiths and others could participate. After the opening prayer by the local Pastor Rev. Gitesh Prasad the youth sang to lead all in worship.
Founder President The Rt Rev Dr Sam Paul welcomed the gathering and introduced those that have come to this meet. He said that this gathering is to. Pray for Manipur, Stand with Manipur & To express Solidarity with Manipur victims.
Archbishop Badam Swaminadulu said that the Governor of Manipur is a lady and the President of India is a lady. When such heinous crimes are committed on women in Manipur, he asked why so much silence from all including the Prime Minister of India. Mrs. Grace from Australia shared the Word of God and encouraged all to surrender themselves as God used Gideon and other leaders even with few resources. He is able to do wonders now even in Manipur situation.
NCC Australia President Dr. Charles Nallimelli said that there is no place for violence in a democracy. Australia stands with the victims of violence in Manipur. Telangana State Governance Wing President Pastor Marri Raju said that there is a sinister design to destabilize the harmony in the country by starting communal riots throughout the country by fundamentalists. We should not let that happen. Pastor A. Hanok, Telangana State Secretary said that we are ready to come in any big number to Manipur to do relief and to protect our people.
National Vice President Rev. Brighty rightly spoke condemning the attacks on Women. She said only idiots attack women. When we speak about Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, how come the authorities are not protecting the beti and her mother in Manipur? She concluded to say that we are shoutng loud and clear to Manipur victims that we are with you until the violence stops completely and justice rendered to the affected. Dr. Thungdemo Lotha, National Vice President, Mr.Caleb D. Kenny, NCC Manipur State President Rev Indrajeet, NCC Oman General Secretary Pastor Sheba Jehu, National Secretary Mrs. Sangeetha Paul, Rev. BP. Raju Karnataka State General Secretary, Rev Victor Das President of Delhi and NCR, Jammu & Kashmir President Bishop Younus, Bishop Suraj Masih & Bishop T. Lal from Punjab, Mr. Darmendhra from Uttar Pradesh and others.
Dr Udit Raj encouraged all Christians to not to confine themselves into their own cocoons but to be proactive in politics with definite roles and positions and serve the Indian society. He reminisced the long association with Christians in the Dalit Emancipation vision through education that he requested Christian leaders to do by establishing 500 English Medium Schools in India. He cautioned that if Christians are not united beyond their Churches, banners the situation that is in Manipur could be repeated by the divisive forces in many other places of the country. As a mark of our honor and rendering the respect to Manipur, the whole meeting honored the NCC Manipur State President Rev Indrajeet on behalf of all the Manipur citizens led by Dr Udit Raj.
Mrs June Rose Vaiphei, former NCC Manipur State President had brought a direct victim of violence, who (name withheld) shared in detail how her home was blasted and the horrifying experience of her family to see how everything was destroyed. All the leaders prayed for her and for Manipur. Later NCC Leaders joined with Manipur Students, expressing Solidarity with Manipur victims of violence at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi where many Manipuri and north east people joined to express their solidarity.
